Chestnut Tree Planting

A volunteer gently places a tender Chestnut taproot last Spring. This time, we will be planting young saplings instead of seeds.

Help us reintroduce the American Chestnut to its native environment! After being extinct for almost 100 years due to the asian blight, the American Chestnut Foundation has created a blight-resistant hybrid seed, thereby enabling the American Chestnut to stand tall once again.

We are THRILLED to partner with the American Chestnut Foundation on this fantastic project. And we need your help to plant some of tender young chestnut saplings. Join us on Saturday morning as Mark Stoakes from the Chestnut Foundation guides us through the process of situating some Chestnut saplings in their favorite places on the Confluence Trail.
