City Nature Challenge

City Nature Challenge is a world-wide event to encourage everyone to document their local biodiversity. The Atlanta City Nature Challenge is hosted by Fernbank Museum with partner hosts around the metro Atlanta region. Learn more about the event and ways to participate below.

This initiative aims to encourage individuals and families to document species of plants, animals and fungi found in nature using the iNaturalist app. The Atlanta City Nature Challenge’s goal is to connect people to nature and help give valuable insight into what species call Atlanta home.

You can participate in the Atlanta City Nature Challenge with us!

  1. Join our project in the iNaturalist app for the South Fork of Peachtree Creek Watershed.

  2. Attend a Lunch & Learn on Thursday, April 23 at 12p for a tutorial on the iNaturalist app and how to make observations and contribute to our project! Event information here.

  3. Walk in the forest with us to observe and learn about nature on Sunday, April 26 at 3p at Montreal Park in Tucker. Event information here.
