Meet our Executive Director

South Fork Conservancy named Kayla Altland the environmental conservation organization’s new executive director in March of 2025. Altland, former director of Grantmaking at Park Pride, will spearhead the nonprofit’s efforts to conserve the South Fork of Peachtree Creek and better connect Atlantans to this important waterway.

Altland is a graduate of Cornell University, with a masters degree from Agnes Scott College. She worked for the National Park Service in youth and community outreach programs and with the D&H Canal Historical Society in High Falls, NY in development and communications. For the last seven years, Altland has played a pivotal role in enhancing Atlanta’s green spaces by leading the grantmaking programs at Atlanta’s Park Pride organization.

Kayla lives with her husband, two sons, and mother-in-law. Her toddlers keep her busy and active. Together with her family, Kayla loves exploring new restaurants, museums, and national parks.

About South Fork Conservancy

The Conservancy was founded in 2008 to conserve the South Fork of Peachtree Creek from further degradation and future environmental threats; restore the creek’s habitats and waters to health; and connect parks, nature preserves and other green spaces along the creek with nature trails to provide better access to our area’s natural wonders.
